Our branch was established in 1982. Since then, our membership has grown to more than 800 members. Working in collaboration with the national office, we strive to provide local input into the issues being championed by the national office. As well, we advocate for a number of issues important to members including retirement income security, national seniors’ strategy, veteran well-being, and pharmacare. We may also contribute to community initiatives by volunteering our time and resources.
The Quinte Branch provides services to members and carries out local programs consistent with the purpose, strategic direction and policies of the Association. Our core Quinte Branch services are:
- advocacy, at the local level, in support of nationally approved strategic advocacy priorities
- management of finances and programs
- ensuring governance with applicable laws, by-laws and policies
- membership recruitment and engagement
- member support (connecting individual members and their families with the information they need to access their pensions and benefits)
- volunteer support and development.
The Association establishes advocacy priorities with the goal of making life better for our members and to ensure that all Canadians can age with dignity, security and choice. Visit the Associations’ Advocacy page for priorities, news, and other information and resources.
Geographic Boundaries
Quinte Branch represents members who live in a large geographic area. Our boundary to the north follows Highway 7 from Marmora to west of Kaladar. Our eastern boundary extends south from Highway 7 to include Marlbank, Deseronto and then the entire eastern shores of Prince Edward County. To the west, our boundary extends from the southern shores of Prince Edward County to include communities from Bloomfield and Rednersville, to Belleville, Stirling and north towards Marmora. The Quinte Branch does not include communities on the western edges of Prince Edward County. For example, Wellington, Ameliasburg, Consecon, and Carrying Place are in the Quintrent catchment area.
