President Pierre Brunet and Secretary Sharron Curley attended the Annual Association Meeting in Ottawa June 18-20. It was a very informative event with adoption of a 5 year strategic plan, approval of the budget, the election of directors, workshops, collaborations and much more.
Highlighted were the four main priorities.
- Retirement Income security i.e. pension landscape
- General Seniors Strategy
- Veterans Issues
Our other big priority is the upcoming Federal Election. There is plenty of work to do.

Medoc Travel Insurance announced an increase of coverage from $5 million to $10 million with rates unchanged. Very good news. Trip cancellation now applies within province.
Our association’s award winning magazine SAGE recently was granted $429,000 by Heritage Canada. That is a big help and great recognition.
President Pierre Brunet and Treasurer Marcel Lamothe attended the “first” Ontario District meeting in Toronto in May. It was an excellent opportunity to meet other Ontario members and share current challenges. It was of great benefit to our branch learning how others are engaging their members and dealing with advocacy and member recruitment.
Treasurers benefited from hands on training with the CRM data entry system.
