Spread holiday cheer to members of the Canadian Armed Forces

November 27, 2020
Holiday greetings for CAF members.
Send cards to CAF members who can’t be with their loved ones this holiday season!

Earlier this month, a tweet from the Canadian Forces in the US asked Canadians to write letters to members who will be unable to spend the holidays with their loved ones.

Canada Post is continuing with free deliveries to deployed troops away from their family and friends during the 2020 holiday season, but a letter to any member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) will require postage.

To participate, mail a stamped letter or card to:

Any Canadian Armed Forces Member
PO Box 5004 Stn Forces
Belleville, ON
K8N 5W6

Importantly, parcels addressed to “any Canadian Armed Forces member” containing anything other than correspondence will be returned to the sender (at the sender’s expense). For more details, visit the Government of Canada’s instructions for mailing overseas.

If you’d like your card to be sent to a CAF member assigned to particular operation, refer to the government’s list of addresses for overseas operations.

Letters and cards typically need to arrive by Dec. 9 to be shipped in time for Christmas. But don’t worry – any correspondence received after that date will still be mailed (though it may not make it to its destination until after the holiday season).

There’s also a virtual way to spread holiday cheer – the Department of Defence Write to the Troops online message board!
