British Columbia Votes 2026

Healthy aging with dignity and choice

The British Columbia Parliament Buildings in Victoria, B.C.

British Columbians will elect their next provincial government on Oct.  24.

On behalf of our 23,747 members in B.C., the National Association of Federal Retirees calls on all candidates to prioritize the issues that matter most to older British Columbians. Investing in the dignity and well-being of older British Columbians is beneficial for the health and economy of the province.

As B.C.’s older adult population grows, concrete action is needed to ensure healthy aging with dignity, reliable care and financial security in retirement.

The issues

Reliable health care

Access to home support, community care and long-term care is not keeping pace with the needs of B.C.’s growing and aging population. Care when and where it’s needed is vital to maintaining health and a good quality of life.

Healthy aging with dignity

Every British Columbian deserves to age with dignity and choice. Age-inclusive care, housing and social policies help ensure older people remain independent for longer and connected to their communities.

Financial security in retirement

The rising cost of living is putting more pressure on older British Columbians and those living on a fixed income. Economic security ensures stability and reliability for essential expenses such as housing, health care and daily necessities, and boosts local economies and government revenues.

For more information on these issues, read our British Columbia election toolkit.
