The Ontario government announced some amendments to its earlier decision to cancel the Ontario Out-of-Country Travellers Program.

In November 2019, we provided you with an update on Ontario’s decision to cancel its Out-of-Country Travellers Program, as of Jan. 1, 2020. With the program’s elimination, we have received questions about the effect of this decision for members in terms of their health-care coverage.

To better support our members with their travel and health benefits needs, Federal Retirees wants to know more about your travel experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 has changed a lot about traveling, but the Johnson MEDOC team’s dedicated support of Federal Retirees and its members remains the same.

Federal Retirees has been able to secure a firm commitment from our long-time partner, Johnson Insurance, that existing MEDOC policy holders will receive emergency travel insurance, which includes COVID-19 and non-COVID-19-related emergency travel coverage up to the $10 million policy limit.

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all travellers to Canada are required to provide contact and quarantine information.

On Jan. 29, the Government of Canada announced new restrictions on international travel. Effective Jan. 31, all flights from Canada to Mexico and the Caribbean have been suspended until April 30, 2021. Additionally, beginning at midnight (11:59 p.m. EST) on Feb.
