Celebrating 60 years of volunteer achievements

April 17, 2023
Cheerful volunteers.
The National Association of Federal Retirees is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023, a milestone that is only possible because of a team of dedicated volunteers.

National Volunteer Week, from April 16 to 22, is an opportunity to celebrate our volunteers and all the wonderful work they do every day. The theme for National Volunteer Week 2023 is Volunteering weaves us together, which speaks to the power of volunteerism to build connections, friendships and communities. The National Association of Federal Retirees lives this theme every day of the year; our volunteer team is a network of nearly 1,000 dedicated individuals who are all committed to making a difference and united by a shared vision for healthy and secure retirements in Canada.

Even beyond this year’s important theme, National Volunteer Week 2023 has added significance for the Federal Retirees community — our Association is turning 60. Since 1963, throughout the country and across generations, our volunteer team has fought to protect the hard-earned pensions and benefits of federal retirees, and to advocate for a dignified retirement for all Canadians.

To all our volunteers, thank you for six decades of achievements together; we look forward to many more to come. Happy National Volunteer Week!
