The CPP fund continues to grow, even in uncertain times, delivering value for current and future retirees.

Internationally recognized as one of world’s top-performing public pension funds, CPP Investments, the organisation responsible for managing the funds of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) has released its 2025 Annual Report. The report confirms the fund is strong and growing — good news for all Canadians who rely on it for retirement income.

As of March 31, 2025, the CPP held $714.4 billion in net assets, up from $632.3 billion the previous year.

CPP Investments says the fund is built for the long term, with a diversified portfolio designed to perform well in all market conditions — even during short-term volatility, like the recent tariff-related market swings. The most recent triennial report by the Office of the Chief Actuary of Canada confirmed that the CPP continues to be financially sustainable for at least the next 75 years.

CPP Investments earned a 14.2 per cent return for the 2024 calendar year and 9.3 per cent for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025. Over the past decade, it has delivered an 8.4 per cent average annual return and exceeded expectations, outperforming its benchmark by 1.4 per cent.
