The National Association of Federal Retirees extends its sincere congratulations to Stephanie McLean on her appointment as secretary of state for seniors.

Supporting older Canadians — and the millions who are approaching retirement — is essential to the long-term health of our economy and the fabric of our communities. It is vital that the federal government have a dedicated voice in the decision-making process focused on Canada's 7.8 million seniors.

This election, Federal Retirees called to reinstate the minister of seniors position. We believe a minister of older persons (seniors) belongs at the cabinet table. In this role, we expect McLean will work diligently to ensure older Canadians are represented in the government’s agenda.

“Federal Retirees is committed to working with the new cabinet to advance retirement security and quality of life for our members,” says Anthony Pizzino, CEO of Federal Retirees. “We look forward to working in partnership with Secretary McLean in support of policies that uphold the well-being, dignity and financial security of older Canadians across the country.”
