On the last workday during National Public Service Week, the National Association of Federal Retirees has begun a new tradition to remember and honour all our deceased members.

“We erected a flag pole at our new national office this year, and it’s only fitting that we fly our national flag at half-mast at the end of National Public Service Week in honour of the passing of so many of our members,” said Jean-Guy Soulière, National President of Federal Retirees. “It’s just a fact of a retirees association that every year we unfortunately lose many long-time members due to death, so I’m pleased that we have found a respectful way to pause and remember their contributions to Canada and to Federal Retirees.”

Our members have made such enormous contributions to Canada throughout their careers in all walks of public service, so honouring them during National Public Service Week is a great way to recognize their contributions from one generation to another.
