10 reasons to join the National Association of Federal Retirees

One Advocacy

The National Association of Federal Retirees (Federal Retirees) advocates uncompromisingly on behalf of its members, seeking to protect federal pensions and benefits and improve retirement in Canada. We have the best interests of our members at heart and we have the track record to prove it. The more members we have, the stronger and more influential our collective voice will be!

2 Access to our Preferred Partners

Our Preferred Partner Program offers terrific savings and exclusive discounts to Association members in the realms of health, technology, home and auto insurance, financial advice, eye wear and travel. Also, depending on your branch, you’ll have access to additional local partnerships and special offers that are unique to your region.

3 Special promotion

Save money on your membership dues with a special offer; all members who sign up for the direct deduction at source payment option (DDS) will receive a one time 25 per cent rebate on their annual membership dues. With the DDS option, your annual membership fees are deducted directly from your pension. This is the simplest way to become a member and to automatically renew your membership annually.

4 Sage magazine

Sage, our quarterly magazine, is brimming with engaging interviews and informative articles about issues that matter to our members. You can take a look at what Sage has to offer on our website. Four spectacular issues are delivered to all member households each year!

5 Join a like-minded community

By becoming a member, you’ll join close to 170,000 other engaged current and former federal employees like you. Every member of the Association is also a member of one of our 77 branches across the country, each with a team of passionate volunteers who are there for you – connecting with MPs, organizing events, answering questions and so much more.

6 Member services team

When you become a member of the National Association of Federal Retirees, you can expect and depend on our exceptional service. You can call us during business hours at 1-855-304-4700 to talk to a real-live person (not an automated prerecording) or send in an email with your questions about our advocacy work, your membership, volunteering opportunities and anything else!

7 Affordable membership rates

For about the price of two cups of coffee per month ($4.38), you can become a member of Federal Retirees and reap all the benefits that come with it. A double membership is only slightly more ($5.69/month), and your partner can join even if they’ve never worked for the federal government. Members don’t need to be retired either!

8 Win great prizes!

As soon as you become a member, you’ll be eligible to participate in the Mega Recruitment Drive and win great prizes just for helping the Association grow its community. Refer a new member for your chance to win one of 14 prizes including the grand prize — $10,000 cash courtesy of Johnson Insurance. Plus, all newly recruited members will themselves be entered into a draw for $250.

9 Information you can trust

Our members count on Federal Retirees to keep watch on their pensions and benefits. We do that by monitoring the political, economic, social, legal, technological and other factors signaling trends and threats that may impact our members — and we act on it, representing our members’ needs through our advocacy work and keeping you up-to-date with trustworthy information every step of the way.

10 Opportunities to make a difference

Thanks to the generous support of our Federal Retirees community we have been able to deliver effective campaigns that truly make a difference to Canadians. As a member, you’ll be invited to participate in engaging events and take part in impactful advocacy work like our campaign to improve long-term and home care in Canada and our ambitious Reach 338 network campaign, seeking to ensure our priorities reach all 338 federal ridings before the next election.
