Health News

September 29, 2016:

Gloria spoke with Lambton Health and got the following information.  Apparently, you must get shot from your doctor.  The vaccine will be given free of charge for anyone 65-71 until January when it reverts back to 65-70.  Her drug store still has not received directives from the government so it looks like it will only be available from your family doctor.  If you have any questions, we suggest you contact the Health Unit in your area or to your family doctor.

September 23, 2016:

We've just received an announcement out of Queen's Park dated September 15th that the Shingles Vaccine is now free for Ontario residents aged 65 to 70. Residents just need to see their Pharmacists and order the Vaccine and then proceed to their Family Physician to have the shot!
Pharmacists recommend picking up the Vaccine within 20 to 30 minutes of your appointment with the Physician, and it has to be kept refrigerated or in a Coller on Cold Packs in transit. More info is available by clicking this link towww.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/immunization/docs/shingles_patient_fact_sheet_en.pdf.

Our PSHCP covers up to 80% of the vaccine cost for those folks under 65 or over 70.
